2024 Pecorino ‘Phototropism & Ephemeral’

$45.00

A variety for climate change, this grape hails from the Marche region of Italy, a thick skinned loose bunch, deliciously packed with tropical fruit and citrus notes. This is a skin contact white, fermented on its skins. Pure opulence and textual mind field. Hints of guava and mango.

GOLD – 95 points – Halliday Wine Companion

This pecorino is from Riverland, South Australia. The fruit sees 15 days on skins before being pressed off. It takes what can be a pleasant but simple grape variety into something sublime. Just shy of medium weight, a light haze to texture, sugared almond sweet-savouriness with light lime and green apple notes, cashew, some light, white balsamic lift, floral notes, a gamut of sweet spice and alpine herbs all doused in saline minerality. It’s got layers and layers, intensity and yet vivid freshness. It’s metered, cool and quietly complex. An utter winner and so interesting. Delicious.
