Positioned in the heart of Queenslandβs Granite Belt on the NSW & QLD border and eastern spine of the Great Dividing Range, Balancing Heart Vineyard is in one of the highest elevated wine districts in Australia, sitting over 900 metres above sea level. This beautiful region has a unique microclimate, granitic soil and is developing a reputation as a leading national wine producer.
Grapes have been grown in the Granite Belt since the 1870s and the region is steadily developing a national reputation as a leading wine producer. The Granite Belt produces delicious, cool climate wines meaning high midday heat that ripens the grapes and low predawn heat, or cool nights, in the growing season which ensures the grapes hold onto their natural acidity.
Ballandean is a small village at the heart of the Granite Belt wine country. Here you can visit the local general store for all of your convenience and bakery needs, the Ballandean Pyramid, and capture a picture with the βFruitisforusβ dinosaur sculpture. The dinosaur was originally constructed for a float in the 1998 Apple and Grape Festival. After the festival, the community placed it in front of the railway station to get passing traffic to stop and buy fruit for a community fundraiser.
Stanthorpe is a place where you can experience the four seasons. It is affectionately known as the βcoldest town in Queenslandβ. Which means, fireplaces in the winter and cooler, refreshing mornings in the summer. We have also been known to experience snow on occasion during winter.
Tenterfield, New South Wales, weaves together the countryside’s beauty, pristine national parks, and rich historical tapestry to entice travellers with genuine tales, friendly locals, and thrilling adventures.
